Led design, and created a new series of error and empty state illustrations for Honeycomb’s product UI.
The process began by researching competitors and other product illustrations, drafting and putting together 3 illustration themes. After selecting 1 of 3 themes, we then conducted user research and testing. The final step was implementing user research and finalizing the style, guide, and creating 4 levels for the product illustrations.
Considerations: Illustrations were designed to be friendly, using our brand colours and too distracting from our UX. I also took into consideration that our users seemed to gravitate to more literal interpretations of messaging.
